Located in the heart of Ha Long Bay, Poem Mountain looks like a massive castle with 3 towers undulating on solid stone walls. Located in the center of Ha Long city and right on the bay shore, Bai Tho Mountain is about 200m high. The mountain was originally called Propaganda or Illumination with the implied use to ignite the border, inform the capital when there was an enemy and to guide boats on the bay. In 1468, on the occasion of visiting martial arts on the Bach Dang River, King Le Thanh Ton came to settle under this mountain, and he was touched by the calm sky and composed a poem. Since then, the mountain has been named to Poem Mountain.

Although it is not the highest mountain in the coastal city of Ha Long, but thanks to the beautiful location and spectacular view from the top, the mountain is considered the most ideal tourist destination in Ha Long.

Ha Long Bay tourism and Bai Tho mountain climbing will be a memorable memory for tourists. Going to the top of the mountain, visitors must go on a small road, though not long but quite steep (more than 45 degrees), twisted through the forest. Along with the footsteps, the sighs of tourists are the melodious birds singing, or the monkeys calling. After about an hour with a length of nearly 3 km, visitors will reach the top of Poem mountain, where there is a stone stele inscribed with the name of the mountain as a poem and the importance of Bai Tho mountain. Along with that, you can see the flagpole existed for 85 years (1930 - 2015).
