The Son Tra Banian Tree is 22 meter height, the perimeter of the tree-trunk and auxiliary tree-trunk up to 85 meter with its 800 years old is honored to be a heritage tree in Vietnam.

On 8^th June 2014, the Da Nang people’s committee co-ordinate with the natural and environment protection association in Vietnam honors Son Tra Banian Tree as a Vietnam Heritage Tree.

The 800 year old banian tree 

The Banian has its science name as Ficus bengalensis in sub-area 63, the Tourism route Bai Bac, Ghenh Da, Mui Nghe (Son Tra district). It is one of the oldest trees in Vietnam.

With its ancient tree shape, Son Tra Banian Tree is one of the important foods of many animals, especially, precious Vooc Cha Va species – the special primate species of the Indochina terrain in this peninsula.

The new heritage of Vietnam

Not only biological value, the Son Tra Banian Tree is also historical meaning to people during two France and America resistance war. Becoming a Vietnam heritage, the banian tree contributes to reservation, heritage value and DaNang Tourism Development.
